Once in the while I tend to buy perfume blindly, relaying only on interesting notes.
To get one of many (which is quite objectionable – How do you create so many in such a relatively short time? Very respectful perfume houses producing a new perfume once and while and this is quite an event for everyone! In my humble opinion - perfumes done by numbers loosing their exclusivity when there are so many, although i have to admit that bottles personality are very artsy and attract a lot of attention.) created Bond #9 perfumes I took my time because, never had interest to try them at all, and did actually try while running away from the store - not once any of the scents stopped me on my way. Many of my girls-friends praised Bond’s perfumes, somehow having it become part of the high society acceptance, in their opinion of course, not mine.
So, I wasn’t expecting much but notes of Gramercy park intrigued me – I said to myself so be it and ordered it.
With the first splash I felt a little disappointed, I expected green, and sophisticated Chypre, something like quite sunny afternoon in Gramercy Park. I expected more mysterious and less crispy as it seems. In my opinion the fragrance is lacking sophistication. That sophistication that you can see around very private and secluded Gramercy Park. I don’t think it’s truly represent the place, but there is a slight chance that I could be more merciful in my opinion in the Autumn. Maybe those notes will behave differently and I willing to try it one more time.
As of now I feel like this fragrance a bit of standoff-ish. I do feel Lilly of the valley circled with some scents of green bushes, I wish it could be woodier and muskier… maybe not much of muskier but defiantly woodier.
Remember movie "You’ve got Mail", when Kathleen Kelly explained common courtesy of meeting people, that name should be pronounced with the last name all together when you introduce yourself. She made fun of girls who just saying their names like they are waitresses: "As if you were one of those stupid 22-year old girls with no last name? "Hi, I'm Kimberly!" "Hi, I'm Janice!" Don't they know you're supposed to have a last name? It's like they're an entire generation of cocktail waitresses".
May be its weirdest comparison ever but that’s how I sometimes identify perfumes - Bond Gramercy Park, is nice but it has a name that bigger than perfume itself, which is kind of for generation of cocktail waitresses…
